About Uganda

Uganda as a country lies across the Equator right in the heart of Africa in East Africa.
It is bordered by Sudan in the north, Kenya in the East, Rwanda in the South West, Congo in the west and Tanzania in the South hence making it a land locked country in East Africa.
Uganda covers a total area of 236,040 sq km's with a population of about 27 million people thus making it a size of England.

Please Note: British Nationals, American and all Commonwealth nationals and European nationals that make up the immense majority of visitors to Uganda do need a visa to travel to Uganda.
Countries exempted from Visa requirements to Uganda include;
COMESA countries: Kenya, Angola, Rwanda, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Comoros, Eritrea, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zambia.
Others: Antigua, Jamaica, Cyprus, Bahamas, Barbados, Sierra Leone, Belize, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Malta, Tonga, Singapore, Lesotho, Solomon Islands, St.Vincent & The Grenadines, Vanuatu, Italy (Only Diplomatic Passports).
Transit visas are best for those trekking gorillas in Rwanda having arrived in Uganda from Kenya and returning to Kenya. If you need no more than a week in Uganda to transit back to Kenya the transit visa option is good for you.
All travelers to Uganda are required to strictly conform with the following requirements.
1. You must be in possession of a valid passport issued and recognized by your government.
2. You must have an International immunization Certificate against Yellow Fever.
Visa information for Rwanda
Nationals from Ugandan, Germany and USA do not require visas to travel to Rwanda. British and South African citizens do require a visa for Rwanda however is issued free of charge at the border. Other nationals have to get their visas before proceeding to the border.
Uganda’s climate
Uganda's weather conditions are perfect, ranging from the coolness of the highlands in the South West Kigezi to the warmth of the lowland.
Uganda is sunny for the most of the year with temperatures rising over 29 degrees.
The average temperature is about 26 degrees C, with a maximum of 18-31 degrees and minimum of 15-23 degrees depending on the part of the country.

The dry seasons are December to February & June to August. The rain season is March-May and light rain season is November and December. Wet seasons are March –May & October-November.
Rainfall varies between 500mm to 2500 mm & the relative humidity is 70% -100%
About 34% of the country is covered in wetlands with an intense network of lakes, rivers, and swamps.
Uganda is gifted with fertile soils. It has Lake Victoria which is the 2nd largest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Albert and also the source of the Nile.
Uganda’s culture
Uganda has a very strong and rich culture tradition. Many districts in Uganda have kingdom including Buganda, Bunyoro, Busoga and Toro. Ugandans are exceptional, hospitable and hails from a range of rich cultures and life styles.  Each tribe has its own traditional dance such as the Imbalu for Bagisu dance during circumcision ceremonies, Kitaguriro for the Banyankole, the Alur people from the West Nile have the Agwal dance, the Banyoro have their Runyege and Acholi have the Bwila and Otole dances.
