A 4 Day Private Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
Your 4 day private safari trip will start with a ride to Lake Mburo National Park which will take approximately 3-4 hours. On the ways you will stop over to watch the Royal Drum makers and stand at the Equator for treating yourself with some photo session while listening to some interesting facts about the Equator. Then you will be guided to Lake Mburo National Park, which is an extension of the Tanzanian plains. Here you are awaited with a treat to your eyes as you watch a few big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Apart from this, Bird viewing opportunities are also excellent where you can find some of the rest species like the African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. Day 1 comes to an end with an overnight stay at Mantana Tented Camp/ UWA Bandas following a late afternoon game drive or a dugout canoe to entertain you.
Day 2: Guided Nature Walk & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start your day with a guided natural walk towards the salt lick area to observe at least four different species of animals standing over an observation platform as they lick the salty soil. You will then return to the camp for breakfast and start moving to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Then a drive through the savannah grasslands filled with a large diversity and number of wildlife will amuse you as you watch the large herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curvy horns. The park is the host of open Rain forest, thick swamps and stunning crater lakes and the vast Lake Edward. Roughly over 100 rare species of animals that include Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, giant forest hog, Chimps, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys, Olive Baboons and many more can be found here. Stay overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Institute of Ecology.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking
This is the day where you will get to see the giant mammal- Chimpanzee. You will start early by 8.00am for the chimpanzee trekking at Kyambura Gorge. You many see many primates and species of Chimpanzee, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion in the savanna grassland. Many varieties of rare bird species can also be seen here in abundance. In the afternoon, an afternoon boat trip along on Kazinga channel will refresh you with wildness very close to you. See the hippo’s huff and spray close to the boat and the buffalos hang on in the shallow areas. You can laso enjoy bird watching from the boat as you can find many of them including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and more. Stay overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Institute of Ecology.
Day 4: Game Drives. Return to Kampala
Following the breakfast you will be driven to Kasenyi Area of the Park for the sunrise game drive. Here is where you will see numerous mighty African elephants, water hog, lion, hyena, Uganda kob, waterbuck and bushbuck. At last, you will be driven back to Kampala, where you will arrive late afternoon.
